Placement Opportunities

ASP offers students an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in providing care and support to individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Students will be engaged in a supportive learning environment where they can develop professional skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of clients and their families. 

Adult Day Programs - Spring/Summer Term 2025 Our Adult Day Programs provide a warm and welcoming environment where individuals living with dementia receive compassionate care from qualified professionals who understand their unique needs. Locations: Brunel Day Program - 385 Brunel Road Mississauga. Evelyn's Place Day Program - 7560 Airport Road, Mississauga. Meadowvale Day Program - 6535 Millcreek Drive, Mississauga. Sam McCallion Day Program - 157 Queen St E, Mississauga. What we are looking for: Currently enrolled in a Degree, Diploma or certificate in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services Gerontology, or Personal Support Worker. Availability: Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am - 4pm. Flexible on day and times. Second language is an asset. Age minimum: 18+.

Respite Care - Nora’s House Nora's House is an overnight respite care service that provides a secure, home-like environment with 24/7 care for people living with dementia, giving care partners a much needed rest. Location: In Mississauga, near Mississauga Road and Dundas Street What we are looking for: Currently enrolled in a Personal Support Worker program. Availability: Monday through Friday either 7am - 3pm or 2:30pm to 10:30pm Flexible on day and times. Second language is an asset. Age minimum: 18+.

Dementia Resource Consultant Support Dementia Resource consultants provide information, education, strategies and referral services to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and informal caregivers. Our Dementia Resource consultants connect with clients over the phone, via email or live video conferencing. We also provide support in-person at our offices, in the community or a client’s home if required. Location: 60 Briarwood Ave. Mississauga. What we are looking for: Currently be enrolled in an approved Social Work Program, a Gerontology Social Service Worker Program, or a University Social Work Degree Program. Availability: Monday through Friday 9am - 4pm. Flexible on day and times. Second language is an asset. Age minimum: 18+

Student placement process will include:

  • Attending an interview.

  • Obtaining a vulnerable persons police records check.

  • Visual check on Covid-19 vaccination with minimum 2 shots. 

  • Attending a dementia education session.

  • taking part in a full site tour/orientation.

  • Reviewing all society-wide policies and procedures.

  • Completing THRIVE training.

  • Reviewing all society-wide policies and procedures.
